Dorsey Theatre opened its doors in 1984, providing Atlanta theatre-goers with a dynamic venue of dramatic art, new and old, including plays, opera, cabaret, and musical theatre productions. Based on what our audiences tell us,
we've been able to reach people that "just don't get theatre."

We love that.

One unique aspect of Dorsey Theatre is that it does not receive any federal or state funding. Dorsey Theatre enjoys a fortunate relationship with Dorsey Studios -  the studio supports the theatre. And the theatre provides a stage for professionally-trained actors, as well as Atlanta's best directors, playwrights, and theatre companies.   At no cost to the taxpayer.

In Atlanta, landmarks and tradition seem to vanish. For over 15 years, Dorsey Theatre has been a part of the Atlanta theatre scene. In fact, the theatre is one of the charter members of the Atlanta Coalition of Performing Arts.  Many actors and directors in Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, and everywhere in between share a common artistic experience through our black box theatre.
